20: Assignment Twenty: Spoons/Forks/Knives... Oh My!

Due: February 12, 2019

The assignment is simple: Spoons, Forks, Knives… in any configuration that you want them to be.

No rules on the utensils.

The expectations, however, are much higher.

I don’t want to see any boring “drop and pop” approaches. I don’t want to see them in any sort of “expected” ways.

No more “middle ground” for creativity here.

Push your thinking… push your expectations… push your abilities to places that you didn’t think you could ever go.

IMPORTANT:

THE FIRST THING YOU THINK OF WILL PROBABLY NOT BE WHAT YOU END UP DOING.

Ask yourself:

  1. have I seen this before?
  2. is it interesting?
  3. what does it say about the utensils?
  4. are the utensils the focus of the photograph (they do not have to be, but that is a question to ask)
  5. what could I do to make my idea even stronger?
  6. how will I explain my thought process (can you? is it important that you do?)

RESEARCH:

Go out on google and see if you can find anyone doing something similar. Yeah, this may be a bit of a longshot, but do it anyway.

Choices… choices are what define our work, and what defines our vision.

This is a short assignment with a broad approach designed to help you find and define a bit of your vision.

It doesn’t have to be fancy, or highly technical.

It can be fancy and highly technical.

The ONLY job this image must complete is to have us looking at spoons, forks, and knives in ways we may have not thought about before.

PURE CREATIVE…

Let’s roll.
