ABOUT PROJECT 52 PRO SYSTEM

GOALS ARE BETTER THAN NOTHING. SYSTEMS ARE BETTER THAN GOALS.

Project 52 Pro System is different from nearly every other online training course online.

First – this is not a set of videos that you download and try to work your way through without context or review. We are there every week – in-person – to review your work, show you what you did right, and how to improve your image to professional standards. The shows are live and recorded.

Second, we are real-world-focused. You get assignments that are identical to many of the assignments you will get while building your business. We are dedicated to paving the road for you to get clients and keep them. The business book – which comes with the course is a roadmap of the intricacies of managing a creative business. From estimating to bidding to billing, we cover scenario after scenario so you will KNOW what to charge for any type of image.

Third – the community. Our former members and alumni are the best group of people ever assembled online. No trolls, no know-it-alls, no drama. Have a question, get an answer. Need an image critiqued, they are there for you. As I am. I spend a lot of time on the forum working with photographers and members with questions. Currently, we are using Facebook Groups, but I want to change over to a different platform in the first quarter of 2022.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

We are not consumer-based in our approach. We do not discuss family portraiture, baby photos, or weddings. That is a far different realm and I am not the person to teach that kind of photography.

HOW THE CLASSES WORK

You will get your assignments on Saturdays. You will have two weeks to complete that assignment and get it uploaded for review.

For example, the assignment is given on Saturday, November 27, 2021. You have until December 14, 2021, to load it for review.

That is two full weeks (and two weekends) plus two days.

You will always have access to assignments three ahead. That is built into the program. When you can see what is coming up three weeks from now, you can better prepare for the shoot.

WHAT DOES A REAL-WORLD ASSIGNMENT MEAN?

It means the assignments are designed to be exactly like the kinds of assignments you will be getting.

We will shoot hero ad shots.
We will shoot editorial layouts.
We will shoot for brochures.
We will shoot for the web.
ECommerce and Social Media genres will be explored.
How to shoot for brands.
Shooting to the layout.
What it means to “leave room for the type”.
Catalog: print and online.
Color grading.
Developing a style.
Creating a portfolio.

And a lot more.

THE PORTFOLIO

By the end of the class, you will have produced, shot, and delivered 52 assigned images. Add to that number the additional images you will make each week and you are most likely going to have a good starter portfolio.

HOW THE CRITIQUES WORK

First of all, we do not do those soul-crushing, humiliating, and worthless “art school” types of critiques because they do not work. I don’t think there is any reason for that type of behavior other than to make a mediocre and childish teacher feel more important.

People don’t learn that way.

We look for what you did right, then we explain how you may make it better. And the way we do it is to ask questions so that YOU LEARN HOW to make it better the next time. Whether you are a newbie or a seasoned pro-am, the important thing is for you to internalize the information, not to be humiliated into compliance.

We do not want you to become mini-me clones of yours truly. We push and help bring out your own styles of shooting. That – in the end – is what is the most important thing. You shoot like you. You process like you.

Helping you find that style or nuance to your work so your portfolio is remembered is one of the most exciting things we do.

HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE TO KNOW TO START PROJECT 52?

Well, you have to know how to use your camera and lighting gear. At least the technical aspects of them.

We have had seasoned pros take the workshop, and we have had newly minted beginners take the workshop. There does not seem to be a correlation to where you fall at the end of the course. Beginners can become pros. And pros can start getting bigger clients.

PROJECT 52 WORKS

One of the things I will promise you is this: If you build a strong portfolio, and do the marketing approaches I advise you to do you will get clients. It is impossible to not get clients.

I know how this business works, and I can help you understand it as well.

There is a lot of work out there, we just have to prepare ourselves to do it, and then go out and get it.

About Don Giannatti

I have been a photographer for over 50 years. And I know stuff.

From working as a freelancer to owning my own commercial and advertising-based studio, I have shot everything from fashion to automotive, jewelry to food, and lots of products.

I added design to my studio in 1987 and by 1994 it had morphed into an ad agency that would become the second-largest (by billing) in the year 2000. I was owner, partner, and creative director.

When I left the ad world for a smaller footprint with a boutique agency, I continued to shoot and design for a multitude of clients.

Having been on both sides of the desk – as a photographer and as a creative director – I know the many challenges we both face as we work toward our creative goals.

I have taught at CreativeLIVE, Udemy, and 103 live workshops all over the country (and Asia).

This is the ten-year anniversary of Project 52 Pro System, and I couldn’t be happier.
