2023 SPRING: ASSIGNMENT FIFTY: THE INCREDIBLE EDIBLE EGG

DUE FEBRUARY 27, 2024

THE INCREDIBLE EDIBLE EGG

Yeah… it is a popular headline, but that is what the client wants.

The Design Agency is located out of your area but wants you to shoot this because you have been consistently marketing to them with great work. (See, it works.)

A local restaurant (5 stores locally owned) is starting a new breakfast menu, and they have purchased bus signs, small billboards, and ads in local magazines. The breakfast is based on the variety one can do with eggs, with over 25 different egg breakfasts possible.

The call the new breakfast menu “The Incredible Edible Egg

This is what the designer has told you they want;

  • Clean, bright or neutral background.
  • Colors should be muted and not detract from the ‘hero’ of the shot – egg(s)
  • The surface should be clean, NOT a textured or wooden type of surface, but also not white paper.
  • Egg(s) should be prominently displayed in the image.
  • Brown and/or white eggs are fine.
  • A poached egg is allowed, as are fried and scrambled.
Please, be careful with styled egg shots since they may not be one of their menu items.

Here is the layout for the approved bus boards: incredible-egg.psd

The agency will base the rest of the collateral on this single image, so give them some room in the main image.

Budget is $1800 and that includes usage for one-time use in print, and a 60 day run on bus boards and small billboards.
Continued use will mean additional fees.

(NOTE) Replace the gray background with the image.
The gray panel at the bottom may be recolored, or removed at your discretion.

BONUS:
If you want to take a shot at redesigning the headline, that is fine with me.
HOWEVER, do the assignment to my specs before venturing on with new typography.

ASSIGNMENT INFO:

PEOPLE

This is not a people assignment.

STILL LIFE

Make sure you understand the brief. If you have questions ask on the Facebook page. This can be a still life or a food shot, or a mix of both. Eggs can be creatively shot in a myriad of ways, so turn on those thinking caps and come up with something amazing.

LIGHTING

Working with eggs means you will most likely be working with something that is right on the edge of brightness and luminance. Keep exposure under control. You will need texture in the eggshells if you show them, but you cannot blow the egg out unless there is some creative reason for the effect.
