This is kind of an interesting play of concept and technique. I want you to illustrate an article on a great writer who is deceased. the shot will be a two-page spread, landscape and in color.
The writer is known for her mystery novels, and most of them were written by hand or typewriter during the forties and fifties. One of the more remarkable things about this writer is that she always took herself to a location that would feature prominently in her novel. If she were writing about a fishing town in Maine, she would rent a house there for a year and write the book. A small, out of the way casino in Nevada would find her renting an apartment and writing about the places she came to know.
She wrote one of her books in your town. Yep.
And that is what the article is about. The author, your town, and the tools of her trade: pen/typewriter/notes…
Have fun with this. Don’t overthink it, but keep the creative juices turned up high.
No people in this shot. It is a still life that tells the story of someone.
If you want to do a period piece or a conceptual approach, that is also cool.
Landscape – in color.
The name of the novel she wrote in your town: “The Second Time You Die”.
It was very dark, and like, a stormy night.
NOTE:
TREAT THIS AS YOU WOULD FOR A POSTCARD MAILER.
Too busy leaves the viewer potentially confused, but if it is ‘just a shot of a pen’ it is not enough to tell the story. The story is the thing. How will you illustrate the story of the writer writing “The Second Time You Die”?
