(EDIT: SEE BELOW FOR FLASH ASSIGNMENT INFO)
Dementia is one of the cruelest of all mental diseases. It robs us of ourselves and leaves a reality so out of context that life becomes nearly meaningless.
You have been hired by a Mental Health Charity Organization to create a powerful image for the front of their fundraising brochure. The brochure will be sent to 25,000 people in the greater Omaha area and the image will be featured in some form on several other collateral and marketing materials.
A few notes. It cannot be overly graphic, nor should it have a terrorized victim look. The image must convey the loss of not only the family member from the family but from themselves as well. And it cannot feature a subject’s face staring off into the distance in some sort of trance. A silhouette, or from the back would be acceptable.
Yeah – they are really walking a very tight walk on this one. Not too graphic, not too terrible, but they want to be sensitive to bringing in some much-needed funds for their charity.
So that is your assignment: A photograph to illustrate a terrible disease that cannot on the surface look terrible.
You’re welcome.
