SUMMER 2021: 40: ASSIGNMENT FORTY: WHAT IS WET?

DUE MAY 3, 2022

WHAT IS “WET”

What does that mean?

Specifics:
A client has called. She hired a photographer to do a shot of something to show how her new water repellent product works. The photographer blew the shot… never did any Project 52 assignments, poor guy.

She (the client) needs the photographs for several items:

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

Cover for the brochure. (Square)
Banner for the website. (Horizontal – 960 pixels x 245 pixels)

She has told you the following:
– Bright colors are great!
– The product works on skin and most materials
– The product makes water less damaging to the material
– The product is used in business and consumer products
– Their target market is product producers

Now look – this image can be extremely difficult to create, or drop-dead simple. All of that is up to you. It is both a concept piece and a study of how difficult it is to do two shots in formats we are not all that familiar with.

The cover has to rock, and the banner ad MUST attract attention.

This product repels water.
This product changes the relationship between surface and moisture.
What images come to mind?
Will you show side/by side?
Will you go ‘concept’?

It is in your court now.

There ya go!

You have to decide if you are going to do two different shots or a single shot that will allow the crop. The second way is much harder, but if you are an intrepid soul it may work fine. Make sure that the images relate to each other. Brochure users should recognize the ‘brand’ in the header of the website and website users feel they “know” the brochure when they see it.

Put the two images together like this for the presentation.

(AND PLEASE: do not do one image and then crop a little bit out of it for the banner. That is not how professionals do it.)
