SUMMER 2022: 50: ASSIGNMENT FIFTY: WE DONE LOST OUR MARBLES

DUE AUGUST 1, 2023
No, I haven’t lost mine… I want a shot of marbles.

Easy to find, and easy to shoot… well, they are easy to find anyway.

This is part still life, part concept.

The article that is being illustrated is headlined: “We Haven’t Lost Our Marbles… Yet” – and it is a tech magazine.

Take your time and concept it out… as best you can you must push yourself to create something interesting with marbles.

So where do we start? What can we do to make a photograph of something so ubiquitous as a marble?

The easy lane comes fast: marbles in the dirt.

But then we have to ask… will just a marble laying on the ground move the needle photographically? Of course not.

What can we do to make it more interesting?

How about a couple of props?
Or a baseball diamond white stripe cutting into the shot?
or some bicycle tracks, and an old Nintendo controller?

Or perhaps we go tech with it… present it as something amazing, huge, or infinitely tiny and perfect?

Color. Dimension. Composition.

… PHOTOSHOP…

All can be combined to make a shot that lets us find our marbles… and in the most unusual place.
