NOTE: THIS ASSIGNMENT WILL BE REVIEWED ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 12. THERE WILL BE NO AFTERNOON MEETING, PLEASE BE AVAILABLE FOR THE MORNING CLASS ON THIS PARTICULAR SATURDAY.

Everyone has a cell phone these days. Kids, grammas, parents, teens, college students. And while most of the uses of a cell phone are for communications, entertainment, and to drive Facebook photographers into conniptions, there is another important aspect of cell phone usage: Safety.

And that is what the client wants to focus on for this poster: the safety and convenience of a cell phone. The poster series will be used to show parents, schools, administrators and local government how a cell phone can be used for protection, and to announce their new “Protection First” campaign.

“Protection First” is a joint project between local law enforcementĀ and the cellular company to provide ‘safety phones’ to youngsters who have to walk home from school.

They are needing a dramatic shot to be used on the set of posters. From scary to pragmatic to ‘endearing’… whatever the photographers bring them is fine. YOU choose how to approach the image production.

An “endearing” shot could be a kid walking to school with a cute backpack and a big smile… protection for her is important.

A pragmatic shot could be a table with backpack, keys, an alarm device and a phone with mommy and kid chatting in the background.

Scary could be a kid walking toward a car on a darkened street, and the guy in the car has a mask on.

And a couple of thousand other ideas that could work for this assignment. YOU will have to assess what your possibilities are and prepare for the shot with them in mind.

To be sure, waiting to the last minute on this one will be a dangerous venture.

The image is to be in portrait configuration and in color. Do not worry about type or copy, the AD has said he can and will work with whatever the photographers bring in.

The AD has sent over a handful of images with styles he likes. You are not required to use these image treatments, they are only shared so you know what the AD is thinking.

And a few inspirational shots that are way better than above from previous groups.
