REPORTS OF NIK NO LONGER WORKING IN MAC HIGH SIERRA

[EDIT – November 1, 2017]

It looks like NIK is being saved by another company. DXO has purchased it and it will become part of their package offering. However, the next update will still be a free version.

At least not within Photoshop. Apparently, the suite still works as stand alone, and some are reporting no problems in LR or C1.

But we all know the end is near for this venerable, well-designed tool that a lot of photographers really enjoy. I very much like Silver Effects.

But – enough moaning. If you want an alternative, here are some links for you to check out.

Luminar as a Nik Software Alternative

I am intrigued by the Siem set of Photoshop tools.

Let us know in the comments what you may have found. I am working mostly within LR and Photoshop in order to understand the NIK tools and how I can work them out in Photoshop. What I love about NIK is the ability to work with the sliders to add just a little bit of contrast to flat images, and how fast the plugin works.

Oh well. It just makes my considerable unease about Google so much more – uneasable… errr… concerned.
